to the FineSoccer Drills Newsletter. Today's featured activity works on
passing, receiving and 1 v 1 play.
This
activity uses groups of 3's in a 40 x 10 area (width isn't that important)
with one ball per group. In the diagram below, the red player starts with
the ball in the middle and the black and yellow players are on the end.

The red
player passes to the yellow player and then runs toward him and defends.
The yellow player must receive the ball and dribble to the midfield line.


As soon
as the yellow player dribbles over the midfield line, he passes to the
black player and the same thing is done in the opposite direction.

In the
beginning have the defending players put passive pressure on the dribbler.
Gradually, increase the pressure so the defender is working at full speed.
If the defender wins the ball, have him give it back to the dribbler and it
starts up again.
This is
a great way to warm up for passing, receiving and dribbling. Do make sure
the passers don't cheat by making a bad pass which would make it easier for
them to defend.
