Welcome to the FineSoccer Drills Newsletter. Today's featured
activity works on attacking at speed and then defending high pressure.
Start with a 4 v 3 situation attacking the goal. There is a
keeper in goal and a target at midfield. In the diagram below, the yellow
team is attacking the goal and the black team is defending the goal and has
the target player on their team.

Normally, in this type of setting, the ball would start with
the four attackers but in this case the ball starts with the keeper.

The black team must work the ball out of the back and find
the red target player. The yellow team high pressures the ball and tries to
lock them in and get a turnover. If yellow wins the ball, they attack at
speed.
The keeper has the the option of playing a long ball out of
the back to the target player and because this option exists, it forces the
yellow team to get back to prevent the long throw or kick.
Start wtih 4 v 3 then go to 5 v 4 and slowly build up to as
many as you can or 11 v 11.
If the yellow team wins the ball they should try to get to goal
at speed. This is a free flowing game so if yellow wins the ball and gets a
shot but doesn't score, it starts with the keeper. The only breaks are if a
goal is scored or if the target player receives the ball. In those cases,
the ball starts back with the keeper and play starts again.
